Job Summary
The System Admin Officer is critically responsible for the end-to-end administration, security, optimization, and absolute continuous availability of Setaragan Mutahed’s – Star Pay core server architecture, Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization fabrics, and database systems. This high accountability role ensures zero-downtime operations for our nationwide transactional platforms, B2C mobile applications, and multi-operator network integrations.
Key Responsibilities
Ø Administer servers and core services (AD/DNS/DHCP where applicable), ensuring availability and secure configuration.
Ø Implement patch management, vulnerability remediation, and baseline hardening in line with security standards.
Ø Manage backups (daily/weekly/monthly), verify backup success, and perform periodic restore testing.
Ø Monitor system performance and capacity (CPU, RAM, storage), plan upgrades, and prevent outages.
Ø Support network and firewall teams with required system-side configurations for services, ports, and integrations.
Ø Manage privileged access, service accounts, and secrets handling using approved processes.
Ø Maintain system documentation: architecture diagrams, build documents, runbooks, and change records.
Ø Support DR/BCP readiness, including replication, standby systems, and recovery procedures.
Ø Perform monthly backup restore drills to verify recoverability of critical systems and databases, document results, and report any gaps for corrective action.
Ø Create, configure, and manage Virtual Machines (VMs) on Microsoft Hyper-V, including VM provisioning, resource allocation (CPU/RAM/storage), templates, snapshots/checkpoints (as per policy), and performance monitoring.
Ø Maintain Hyper-V host health and capacity, including storage management, patching coordination, and ensuring VM availability.
Ø Implement and maintain VM backup and recovery for Hyper-V workloads, aligned with the backup policy and monthly restore drills.
Qualifications
Ø Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/IT or equivalent practical experience.
Ø 3+ years of hands-on system administration experience (Windows Server and/or Linux).
Ø Experience in backup/restore, patching, and server security hardening.
Ø Technical Skills
Ø Windows Server administration (AD/GPO, IIS) and/or Linux administration.
Ø Virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V) and storage concepts; backup solutions.
Ø Log review and troubleshooting; scripting basics (PowerShell/Bash) is an advantage.
Ø Understanding of security controls (least privilege, MFA, audit logs).
Ø Microsoft Hyper-V administration, VM lifecycle management, virtual networking (vSwitch/VLAN), and basic troubleshooting.
Ø Soft Skills & Behavioral Competencies
Ø Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Ø Process-driven mindset; careful change execution with rollback planning.
Ø Good communication and documentation skills.
Ø Key Deliverables / KPIs
Ø Patch compliance and vulnerability closure within agreed timelines.
Ø Backup success rate and restore-test success rate.
Ø Server uptime and reduction of unplanned downtime.
Ø Quality of documentation and change records.
Ø Working Relationships
Ø Internal: IT Manager, NOC, Helpdesk, Development team, Compliance/Audit.
Ø External: Hosting/data center, backup/security vendors, software vendors (as needed).
